September 13, 2016Gibson County
Heavy rain showers popped up in Gibson County this afternoon and so I made a
swing through McCurdy Sod Farms on Bethlehem Road in Dyer County to see if
anything might be new. I counted over 225 Killdeer in two fields and way in the
back, there they were - two Buff-breasted Sandpipers! I've been looking for
them here all season and finally they appeared.
I made a quick trip by Gibson County Lake and quickly scanned the lake. The
only terns present were 2 Forster's Terns sitting on a stump. There were also a
few cormorants, Great Blue Herons, a Great Egret, and an immature Little Blue
Heron.
Good birding!
