I wanted to provide an update on the status of a second hummingbird=20
present in Carter County.
I got an e-mail at 4:45 p.m. from the woman in Valley Forge community=20
of Carter County who had been hosting a Selasphorus hummingbird at her=20
feeders since at least Nov. 13.
Her bird is still coming to her feeders as of today. So, that is two=20
hummingbirds that I know of in the Elizabethton area.

the hummingbird on Wednesday, Dec. 6. I waited from 4:30-5:20 p.m.=20
yesterday to get a look at the bird, but it didn't show.=C2=A0

Betty called me again this morning to tell me the bird had fed about=20
half a dozen times this morning.=C2=A0
=C2=A0
She first noticed the bird around Thanksgiving.=C2=A0
=C2=A0
I have several photos of the bird that I will post later to the=20
Herndon Bird Club's yahoo site.=C2=A0
=C2=A0
This is the second wintering hummer report I have received this=20
season. A resident of the Valley Forge community in Carter County near=20
Elizabethton had what she described as a Selasphorus species visiting=20
on Nov. 13. I have not observed that bird, and my last e-mail from the=20
host said that the hummingbird was still present around Thanksgiving,=20
but the family had left for a trip to Florida and that bird's current=20
status is unclear.=C2=A0
