Brainerd Levee, Hamilton County, TN from Shallowford Rd. parking lot to Mile 1.4 and back; 12:30 PM-3:20 PM. Highlights include: Ruddy Duck--1 female Wood Duck--1 female Blue-winged Teal--5 my first of the season Green-winged Teal--70 All 3 accipiters including a juv. N. Goshawk seen for 45 - 60 seconds @ 2:20PM. Bird was distinctively an accipiter, noticeably longer than Red-shouldered Hawks that were in the air most of time. Narrow wings, long tail with zig-zag bands, heavily streaked belly and breast. Bird was moving in a northerly direction as were most raptors seen except the local Red-shoulders.
