Today I birded from the road in the Bells Bend area and had a great morning
with lots of countryside birds. There was a Willow Flycatcher calling on
the right side .3 mile past the Bells Bend Outdoor Center on Old Hickory
Blvd. Then at 1 mile past the center there were six Bobolinks (five males)
singing and flying around near the hay bales. Great looks at Dickcissels,
Blue Grosbeaks, Indigo Buntings, Prairie Warbler, Chat, Common
Yellowthroat, Orchard Orioles, and Eastern Kingbirds. The Northern
Bobwhites were doing a strange call mixed in with their normal one. No
Grasshopper Sparrows seen or heard.
