I am pet sitting for some folks that live in Bluff City, Tn., Sullivan Co, off of Egypt Rd. Tonight as I pulled into their driveway I had one Eastern Kingbird sitting on a fence post basking in all his glory. On the way out I had a Carolina Wren which spent several minutes scolding me and then broke out into song. Also spotted were Downy Woodpecker, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Brown Thrasher, N. Cardinal, numerous Blue Jays and a Yellow rumped Warbler. There were several squirrels working the leaf litter in the woodlot while scolding me over their shoulders. Much to busy to really be concerned, just annoyed by my presence. Here at home I had my first Ruby throated Hummingbird today. He zoomed in and got a good look at my empty feeder. I quickly filled it so he can eat to his little hearts content. My Barn Swallows appeared on the farm on Saturday, April 15th. They will quickly take over the barn and torment all who enter. Glad to see them back. Everybody needs reflex training. It quickens your response time!
