Frozen Head State Park Visitor Center, Morgan Co., TN

Spent about 30 minutes of my lunch break on the porch at the visitor center.

It was a little cool but pleasant. Cloudy, ≈65°F,≈75% Humidity, wind NW 5 mph,
≈0.3" rain yesterday. Cold front moved through last 48 hours bringing rains and
thunderstorms.

2 Red-tailed Hawk
2 Chimney Swift
1 Eastern Phoebe
2 American Crow
1 Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - Foraging on poison Ivy.
1 Ovenbird
1 Louisiana Waterthrush

1 Blue-winged Warbler - Song was a "bee-buzz" described as an inhale-exhale
rhythm. After searching I was finally able to locate the bird near the top of a
tulip poplar. Through borrowed 12x25 binoculars I spotted the singer. Yellow
underparts with no obvious markings. Identity based on song. This is a new bird
for the park as well as a lifer for me!

1 Hooded Warbler
2 American Redstart - A male has been attacking its reflection in an employee's
vehicle window and mirror. Other birds in the area.
2 Northern Cardinal - a male and female flew up into the rhododendron planted
around the porch. Loud continuous chip notes.

It turned out to be a very nice lunch break!

Also heard my first Whip-poor-will's for the year at Pickett State Park
(Pickett Co., TN) this evening.
