[TN-Bird] Blue-wing, odd thrasher - Knox

A rare treat in the yard this morning (west Knox Co, 13 Aug), a
BLUE-WINGED WARBLER was working the edge of the woods. We don't
get a lot of these in the yard and this is only the 2nd fall
record for the yard.

Last night (12 Aug) a BROWN THRASHER visited the suet feeder. It
had a deformed bill and large tumor-like growth at the base of
the bill (not a tick, too large). The bill was overly long and
curved and gapped open in the middle. It seemed to pick at the
suet ok. I've noticed a number of reports of deformed bills in
this species over the past few years. A trend in occurrence or
increased reporting by observers?

Am Robins and N Cardinals were working the poke berries this
morning.
