The Black-necked Stilt was still there as of 6:30PM on Monday. I took a few distant shots but haven't downloaded them from the camera yet. The bird was less than 100 yds from the road so a good digiscoper could get some good shots. It's not actually on Hitch Pond wich is the larger of the ponds in that area but a smaller pond closer to Phelps Rd on the other side of the Osage Orange patch (which is worth looking through for birds). Several Killdeer and a Green-winged Teal (eclipse male I think) were also at the pond. If you're in the area, keep an eye out for Loggerhead Shrike. This is the only spot we still get them within the Knoxville CBC circle. If you turn left at the stop sign instead of right, you will get to Scenic Point overlooking some good water for loons, grebes and such. This area is a great birding spot worth a little time while there looking for the stilt. On another note, lots of birds passing are passing overhead again tonight. I've been trying to get some audio recordings, we'll see how they turn out tomorrow.
