Mitch,

I'll second everything Wallace said and add that the Carolina Chickadees
in our yard in west Knox Co sing a shortened 2-note 'fe be' version
as much as 40-50% of the time. It is basically just the first 2 notes
of their "normal" 'fe be, fe bay' with shorter notes than the more drawn
out 'feee beee' of Black-capped but that distinction takes lots of
practice and experience with both species. There is also the raspy
'feed me' (or 'phoe-be') "song" of the Eastern Phoebe though it sounds
rather different than a chickadee.
