I just received my latest issue of "Birding" from the ABA. In it
is an excellent article by John Kendall, Mark Brogie, and our
own Kevin Calhoon, the chairs of the Indiana, Nebraska, and
Tennessee bird records committees, respectively, who addressed and
countered the various points made by the ABA Checklist Committee
in their decision to reject the Hooded Crane from inclusion in the
ABA Checklist. Also included were 2 great photos from Dec. 2011
of the crane at Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge by another TN birder,
Mike O'Malley. I found the article very informative and well worth
reading by all.
