Two weeks ago someone gave me 2 bluebird houses, and this past fall my wife got
me a martin house for our anniversary. Needless to say, I’ve been dragging my
feet, and only got out there today to put them up, which I know is a bit late.
I did the small houses first, and within less than 10 minutes both Eastern
Bluebirds and Tree Swallows had checked them both out. As of this time, it
appears the EABLs have staked their claim to one of the houses, and the TRSWs
to the other one!
As for the Purple Martin house, all I’ve seen is a Northern Mockingbird sitting
on top of it for a bit and some TRSWs doing some close flybys. However, I’m
very hopeful for some PUMAs soon, since I’m fairly sure 2 of them flew over
when I was putting it up, and the PUMA collection at a residence a couple miles
away already has PUMAs swarming all over their 2 houses & gourds.
Good Birding,
