Bells Bend Park
Davidson Co., TN
2015 May 21

Reading LinnAnn's TN-BIRD post of yesterday, I decided to go out
to Bells Bend Park this Thursday morning to see if the BOBOLINKs
were still there. The overnight rains, heavy low overcast morning
skies and misting rain made for a very wet trail. But after about
a 1.5 mile walk I ended up in the DICKCISSEL area with numerous
birds singing and seen. It took me more walking and perhaps an extra
15-20 minutes of searching, but eventually I found a flock of
7 BOBOLINK, 4 males and 3 females, in the same general area.
Unfortunately, none of the males sang while I was there, however,
I certainly enjoyed seeing these lovely birds. Due to the wet
conditions, by the time I arrived back at my car near the visitor's
center, my boots had become so wet walking the grassy trails that
I could wring water out of my socks.
