Fall is just now coming in and during the past week we have had a fallout of
birds at our feeders and bird baths. In addition to the usual suspects of
Northern Cardinals (in abundance), Carolina Chickadees (ditto), Tufted
Titmice, Downy and Red-bellied Woodpeckers, Carolina Wrens, White-breasted
Nuthatches, House Finches, and Mourning Doves, we have also been blessed by
the
presence of small squadrons of dueling Ruby-throated Hummingbirds as well as
the
variegated colors of Summer Tanagers, Blue Jays, Eastern Bluebirds, American
Goldfinches, American Robins, American Redstarts, and Black-throated Green
Warblers. For good or ill, we have also had morning invasions of iridescent
Common Grackles, but they normally move on by noon.

The supporting cast includes squirrels, chipmunks, and one resident frog.
