November 10, 2002 Standifer Gap Marsh, Chattanooga American Bittern (1), probably not the one reported 10/30; the 10/30 bittern showed a very sharp contrast between the dark brown back of the wings and the tan parts; today's bird seemed to show much less contrast. It flushed about 200 feet south of the gravel road along the ditch which runs from the road to the open water. It flew about to the middle of the east side, where most people cross the black fence into the marsh.
