Just when I thought nothing unusual was going to show up at Cove Lake after the
storms this week,
I decided to check Cove Lake mid afternoon briefly between the showers.
(5) AMERICAN AVOCETS were seen on the distant West shore viewed from the
fishing pier. Initially found with binoculars. Returned w/ scope for better
view in the rain.
Poor cropped photo attached but diagnostic.
There is also an Immature Little Blue Heron around the park, generally across
the lake.
(Still all white)
A Dowitcher was identified but weather too bad to discern Short or Long Billed.
(Most likely Short
at this time of year)
THANKS TO Tony/ Dawn Headrick for helping me get the word out so others could
see them before dark. Hard to use a cell phone in the rain!
