Early this morning at first light I heard one, possibly two, Great Horned
Owls from my backyard in close-in suburban Nashville- never heard that
species previously in my yard.

Later while hiking the Mossy Ridge Trail at Warner Park in Nashville a very
vocal and cooperative Hooded Warbler gave a trail-side show.

And finally at the Green Hills YMCA an immature Black-crowned Night Heron
was hanging out by the yet-to-be-opened-for-the-day pool. I guess immature
means not realizing no food in the pool.

The unexpected is always good.
