I think it's a really good piece on the college in the Tod news. A reporter who actually has done their homework. I'm going to copy it to our members to serve as a reminder to come to the AGM.

It's interesting to see - I guess our biggest issue in terms of
publicity is that some people will say it is reducing money available
to other things in the town. Could be a bit of an issue so we need to
be proactive in talking up the community benefits etc...

Yes I think it will be a positive thing if we get the right person -
someone with a genuine interest in what we are doing as opposed to a
facilities person looking to find fault with things if we do
anything different from the 'Calderdale way'. We should definitely
lobby for someone like Sam.

I think it will be of benefit to us as they will be on the inside
and seeing how we are managing.

I agree, could be a positive move. As you say, let's think about it.
We're going to have some time till the actual date.

thinking on,

If we were to invite somebody useful from cmbc, either elected
member or council officer to be co opted that could be a positive
for us.

im thinking Sam Saxby for example (who has been working on the
climate change bid).

Might be worth mulling this over so we have some suggestions at the
ready.

Not sure how a compulsary cmbc member would work with our
constitution?

might be ok if its down to us to co-opt , and of course any board
member has to agree to our aims.

What if we are doing well enough to not need cmbc money?

im also a bit non plussed at how they think annual H&S checks would
help us?

i think we could add some things that actually would help! ill think
on.

interesting that this was confidential, even though it wasnt! (seems
to have been taken off cmbc website now though)

i suspect they are trying to keep quiet about the funding scource?

and the built in contradiction re, they would take the building
back, and the implication it would bee too expensife to take it
back!

The report makes for interesting reading. Because they have to
identify the risks it always makes it sound terrible financially -
they don't seem to big up the positives as much as the negatives -
but they are definitely recommending they go for it. It will mean:

£37.5k rent for the Children's centre and Tod Town council annually

£117.5K over 3 years (approx. £45k/year then £25K in year 3). But
not payable if we do better financially.

A member of Calderdale to sit on our Board - we need to make sure
this is linked to financial support - no pay no say.

Health and safety and other checks of our business annually

All of that sounds perfectly fine to me!
