We are having some proper washable flooring put down but this has been delayed.
The important bit was to get it clean for use in the meantime and stop plaster
being trodden around the other rooms.

Well, I did do it, in that I spent an hour and a half on my knees with a
scraper and stiff brush. But I can't say it looks much better as a
result of my labours. I think we need to floor paint it. I may have some
floor paint (farrow & ball so eco enough), I'll have a look.
