Hello Hani, Most excellent. That reminds me of an American newspaper article a while back. Let me share some more laughter amongst us all: ============================================================= From an article by Clifford D. May: ------------------------------------------------------------- Conservatives value freedom. Liberals value equality. Liberals believe in aid. Conservatives believe in investment. Liberals think people are the problem and government is the solution. Conservatives think government is the problem and people are the solution. Liberals know conservatives are unfeeling. Conservatives know liberals are unthinking. Conservatives believe the heart of the constitution resides in the second and 10th amendments. Liberals believe the heart of the constitution resides in Roe vs. Wade. Liberals want to save wilderness. Conservatives want to save civilization. Liberals think the central struggle in society is between the working class and the leisure class. Conservatives think the central struggle in society is between the working class and the whining class. Liberals believe that capitalism's sharp edges can best be softened by a strong government. Conservatives believe that capitalism's sharp edges can best be softened by a strong religious ethic. Both Liberals and Conservatives believe in a woman's right to choose: Liberals believe women have a right to choose whether to abort a fetus. Conservatives believe women have a right to choose whether to carry a handgun. Liberals believe there are political solutions to economic and moral problems. Conservatives believe there are economic and moral solutions to political problems. Liberals value social responsibility. Conservatives value individual responsibility. Secretly, conservatives think many poor people are lazy. Openly, liberals think many rich people are lazy. Liberals think illegal immigrants are exploited in America. Conservatives think illegal immigrants wouldn't keep coming here if the liberals were correct about what happens to them after they arrive. Liberals want to make it easier for people to vote because, in their hearts, they believe people who are not really interested in politics are more likely to vote Democratic. Conservatives don’t want to make it easier for people to vote because, in their hearts, they agree with liberals on this. In a crisis, Conservatives revert to type. In a crisis, Liberals revert to hype. Liberals think the world is divided between the haves and the have-nots. Conservatives think the world is divided between the hard-working and the hardly-working. In the ‘60s, Conservatives were insufficiently opposed to discrimination and were not sincerely dedicated to the principle of equality under the law. In the ‘90s, Liberals are insufficiently opposed to discrimination and are not sincerely dedicated to the principle of equality under the law. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Clifford D. They lived on deer in the mountains during the AYHE> summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the AYHE> winter. AYHE> The two most important events in all of history were the invention of AYHE> beer and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man AYHE> to the beer. These were the foundation of modern civilization and AYHE> together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two AYHE> distinct subgroups: AYHE> 1. Liberals; and AYHE> 2. Conservatives. AYHE> Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning AYHE> of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented AYHE> yet, so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them to AYHE> be invented, they just stayed close to the brewery. That's how villages AYHE> were formed. AYHE> Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to B-B-Q at AYHE> night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is AYHE> known as the Conservative movement. AYHE> Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live AYHE> off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly B-B-Q's and doing AYHE> the sewing, fetchi AYHE> ng, and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the AYHE> Liberal movement. AYHE> Some of these liberal men eventually evolved into women. The rest AYHE> became known as girlie-men. Some noteworthy liberal achievements AYHE> include the domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy, AYHE> group hugs, and the concept of Democratic voting to decide how to AYHE> divide the meat and beer that conservatives provided. AYHE> Over the years conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most AYHE> powerful land animal on earth, the elephant. Liberals are symbolized AYHE> by the jackass. AYHE> Modern liberals like imported beer (with lime added), but most prefer AYHE> white wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish but like their AYHE> beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal AYHE> fare. Another interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women AYHE> have higher testosterone levels than their men. Most social workers, AYHE> personal injury attorneys, journalists, dreamers in Hollywood and group AYHE> therapists are liberals. Liberals invented the designated hitter rule AYHE> because it wasn't fair to make the pitcher also bat. AYHE> Conservatives drink domestic beer, mostly Bud. They eat red meat and AYHE> still provide for their women. Conservatives are big-game hunters, AYHE> rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical AYHE> doctors, police officers, corporate executives, athletes, Marines, AYHE> airline pilots and generally anyone who works productively. AYHE> Conservatives who own AYHE> companies hire other conservatives who want to AYHE> work for a living. AYHE> Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers AYHE> and decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans AYHE> are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals AYHE> remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to America. They AYHE> crept in after the Wild West was tamed and created a business of trying AYHE> to get more for nothing. AYHE> Here ends today's lesson in world history: AYHE> It should be noted that a Liberal may have a momentary urge to angrily AYHE> respond to the above before forwarding it. AYHE> A Conservative will simply laugh and be so convinced of the absolute AYHE> truth of this history that it will be forwarded immediately to other AYHE> true believers and to more liberals just to tick them off. And there AYHE> you have it. Let your next action reveal your true self... AYHE> crazy_norma... AYHE> AYHE> Thanks, AYHE> Hani AYHE> ________________________________ AYHE> From: tinwhiskers-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx AYHE> [mailto:tinwhiskers-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Bob Landman AYHE> Sent: Tuesday, February 24, 2009 9:50 AM AYHE> To: tin whiskers forum AYHE> Subject: [tinwhiskers] European Union to Phase Out Incandescent Bulbs by AYHE> 2012 AYHE> AYHE> Ah, the EU....... AYHE> AYHE> -Bob Landman AYHE> H&L Instruments,LLC AYHE> AYHE> http://www.ecnmag.com/ez-European-Union-incandescent.aspx?menuid=&adcode AYHE> =section=effzone AYHE> European Union to Phase Out Incandescent Bulbs by 2012 AYHE> by Jason Lomberg, Technical Editor AYHE> Ecnmag.com - December 11, 2008 AYHE> AYHE> European Union to Phase Out Incandescent Bulbs by 2012 AYHE> by Jason Lomberg, Technical Editor AYHE> In a move sure to ignite debate on this side of the Atlantic, the AYHE> European Union approved the phasing out of incandescent bulbs by 2012. AYHE> Here in the US, we're debating which technologies should be allowed to AYHE> earn a label (Energy Star). Over in Europe, they've ended the discussion AYHE> with multinational governmental action. By following the commission's AYHE> proposal, EU citizens will save close to 40 TWh per year, and emissions AYHE> will go down by 15 million tons of CO2 (according to the European AYHE> Commission). But there's a larger issue at hand: should government have AYHE> such control of industry? AYHE> Adoption of the proposal will begin in 2009, with the gradual phasing AYHE> out of incandescents by 2012. According to the EU's press release, "It AYHE> (the regulation) progressively removes incandescent bulbs from the AYHE> market in a way that allows manufacturers to adapt their production." AYHE> The "approved list" includes compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) and AYHE> efficient halogen lamps. What about aesthetic considerations? The EU AYHE> points once again to the three-year adoption period. The implied hope is AYHE> that companies will adapt their production to accommodate the proposal AYHE> while still releasing an attractive product. And if they don't? Well, by AYHE> 2012 it will be law. Unless consumers find bulbs on the secondary AYHE> market, their choices will be limited. AYHE> And what if companies are unable to switch production? How many AYHE> companies will be forced to shut down? These are the hard questions that AYHE> will need answers, especially if such a proposal ever gains steam in the AYHE> US. -- Best regards, Steve mailto:steve@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx www.consultingscientist.us http://www.pickensplan.com/
