Thanks, Roger. Actually I had already deleted the Userlexicons and do not appear to have a Checkexpire. However by using another screen reader I checked what Voice was set in the Settings dialogue and found it to be a US English Lucy SAPI 4! Cursoring to the SAPI 5 voices it began to speak. So I saved one of them and now Thunder speaks once it has loaded. I am still wondering what voice should have been operative by default? When I tried an earlier version of Thunder I don't think that I had this type of problem. Perhaps the fact that in the meantime I have been testing other screen readers such as SAToGo and NVDA may have changed something on my system.
