Hi, I hope this finds you well.
Thank you to all the artists for enhancing our market in 2021. We hope that
there is momentum to move into 2022 in new and exciting ways. The ability
to display work without immediate concern when inclement weather comes
(thanks to our new removal vinyl windows) set us on a path to safely add
more art.
As we move into 2022, we will need to increase our commission rate from 20
to 25% to help defray the cost of sales tax that we have been paying and
will be continuing to pay. Additionally, we are wanting a bit more
rotation of art work. Some artists are already doing that and I have also
done a bit of that by moving work around to freshen things up as well as
holding some items back until a more advantageous time for display.
I believe that with more intentionality in switching out work on a monthly
basis, we will have a win/win situation. The artists will have the
opportunity for greater exposure and sales and CLO will have a fresher
market and opportunity for sales. Additionally, new artists are welcome to
jump in and gain a following.
I will be coming up with a standardized inventory sheet that I will give
out before artists bring items to the market. This is not to increase work
by asking folks to rewrite their inventory, but to have a standard across
the board sheet for our records.
Hope that these crazy March days in Michigan are sparking creativity as we
move from winter to spring and back to winter in just a few hours
sometimes.
