Brian, I don't want to mislead you, as I'm not sure if it's related, but I've found that when you remove the Run option from the start menu you are unable to use the File Open in Internet Explorer. This is actually documented in an MS TechNet article, and of course is by design. This may be affecting your app. Do you have this policy enabled? Cheers, Jeremy. -----Original Message----- From: Brian Lilley [mailto:Brian.Lilley@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, 24 February 2004 9:56 PM To: 'thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [THIN] problem with lockdown gpo My client is running two of their own bespoke applications on Citrix servers and both applications crash out when they try and use the 'File Open' dialog box within their app.. Here is the statement from the support people... "This error occurs wherever the standard Microsoft 'File open dialogue' box is displayed and the user selects to browse using the down arrow button. The application disappears without warning and without any error message being displayed. This occurs in 2 of our bespoke applications and in notepad. The environment is Windows 2k, Metaframe XPe FR2 with the Citrix environment locked down using Windows 2k GPO's. Clients are ICA win32 v7. This error does not happen in a non locked down environment, we've tried to set logging on to see if the system reports an error - nothing." So, there seems to be a lockdown policy setting which is upsetting the 'File Open' Dialog object in their VB front end!!? Apparently their developers have been unable to identify if this object is throwing an exception which I find hard to believe, either that or, the app is crashing with an operating system unhandled exception??!! I wondered if they had locked down access to the users local hard drive C: and that the programmers had hardwired the 'File Dialog' object to look at 'C:' by default. short of trailing through the GPO and disbling bit by bit....any comments appreciated...
