I seem to recall ZX81s were 1K (impressive, heh) before plugging in a
RAM pack. And then you had to deal with the dreaded RAM-pack-wobble ;-)

Does a Spectrum ZX81 with 16K (or was it 8K) , thermal printer, very
small green screen and portable tape player count?.  Later on the
Spectrum 64 with 6K even had color and they had the game Horace goes
skiing.
