http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/deploy/hfdeploy.mspx

According to this, we still can. Read under the section titled "Using
QChain.exe". The second line states:

"You can install SP2, and then install any number of post-SP2 updates
without having to restart the computer between installations."

So which article are we to believe??? I personally would like a definative
answer from Microsoft before I begin to deploy anything now. I need to know
if my method of deployment will be supported.

In addition, some of the older deployment guides tell you to do the exact
thing this article is telling you not to do. Hence, the "What da?"

It's my understanding that if you are trying to apply a hotfix after a
service pack, such as in the example given in the article, you are trying to
overwrite SP files with newer files. Isn't that the idea for Post service
pack hot fixes?

Isn't that what qchain is for?

That's understandable. There's the potential for overwriting SP files if
you try to chain the service pack with HotFixes. HotFixes get superceded
all the time.
