we had similar issues
this was resolved with apesense as it was a DLL that was replaced in the latest
version of appsense
might want to consider having another look at
appsense has recently released a new SP for version 8

Some apps don’t like the lock down features. One app that has caused us trouble
was MapPoint, it crashed every time you tried to get directions. We never
figured out exactly why it occurs but when we shut down the AppSense service on
those servers we stopped having the issue.
