I would try backtracking a little then. Make sure the user is setup to auto-create and default to their client printer. Then shadow them and open the ICA client printer configuration and see what is going on there. Look for their client name in the failed message. They may be confused about something. Nope. No errors that I can see. That was the first thing I checked. :-) Nothing in the log says "OfficeJet". I see some others, tho - a hp deskjet 3320 series, and a 5L PCL. But nothing that says "OfficeJet" anything. -- ------------------------------------------------------------ Michael Leone, Systems Administrator Philadelphia Contributionship 210 S. 4th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106 < mailto:mleone@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> V: 215-627-1752 x1282 F: 215-627-5354 -----Original Message----- From: Greg Reese [mailto:GReese@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, September 22, 2003 10:33 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Win2K TS - printer mapping for HP OfficeJet 5100 Series, running on WinXP client? do you get an error in the error log about it? If it is failing you should. That will also have the name of what you should use for mapping it. That's just it - I don't see any mapping on the server itself. If i do a START|SETTINGS|PRINTERS, I do see entries for the other clients who are connected, and their printers. But I don't see anything at all for this user. Doesn't look like it's being created at all. -- ------------------------------------------------------------ Michael Leone, Systems Administrator Philadelphia Contributionship 210 S. 4th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106 < mailto:mleone@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> V: 215-627-1752 x1282 F: 215-627-5354 -----Original Message----- From: Andrew Rogers [ mailto:Andrew.Rogers@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, September 22, 2003 10:17 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Win2K TS - printer mapping for HP OfficeJet 5100 Series, running on WinXP client? hmm, fair nuff :) presumably the printer is being created on the TS, but is just going to another printer? check to see what port the printer is set to use on the TS - it should be along the lines of "client\computername\HP OfficeJet blah" (assuming its not changed in mfxp) I suppose the standard thing to check (depending what your users are like!) is if theyre actually printing to the correct printer! Andrew --o-- >>> MLeone@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 22/09/03 15:05:35 >>> I've got the manual that came with the printer in front of me - says "hp officejet 5100 series all-in-one" on the front. Copyright 2002. Lists Win98, 98SE, Win2K, WinME, WinXP as supported OSes. Also Macintosh. No idea if it's USB or not. My users goes to print (by hitting the default printer icon in any application - which should be her local printer), and it gets printed here on my LAN, on a network-connected HP LaserJet 4, in some other department. The TS does have this HP 4 defined as a system printer, printing via IP. (I did it that way, so home users could route a printout to their department printer, if need be. So the TS server has a number of printers setup on it, all connected via IP). ******************************************************** This Week's Sponsor: ThinPrint http://www.thinprint.com ********************************************************** Useful Thin Client Computing Links are available at: http://thethin.net/links.cfm For Archives, to Unsubscribe, Subscribe or set Digest or Vacation mode use the below link: http://thethin.net/citrixlist.cfm
