Lay down auditing on the HKLM\Software key for everyone, failure accesss ( all permissions) apply down the subtree, and then re-run the application. It should tell you to the T which keys this application wants to update and what permissions its looking for. Then from there you can re-look your regmon trace and find out what more needs to be done. Also, look at filemon with this application to, it might want to write to a directory in which it doesnt have permissions, EZ -----Original Message----- From: JClewitt@xxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:JClewitt@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, May 08, 2003 7:49 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Volo View Express - failed to update the registry When opening Volo View Express Version 2.01 under win2000 as a user a message 'failed to update the registry. please try using regedit' pops up. It is OK as Admin. I have used Regmon to find where I need to open up some permissions but so far I have been unsuccessful. Has anyone out there seen this problem with Volo View if so can you let me know the offending area of the registry?
