Yes, yes and yes. This is why I avoided Win2K TSE for so long.

We have subscription advantage, is there a separate license for putting MF
1.8
on a W2K server that is different than installing it on NT 4.0? Our
workstations are NT 4.0, so I guess we will have to purchase TSCAL's for
every
workstation that will access the system.

Jason

You left out:

Get a Metaframe 1.8 for Windows 2000 upgrade license

Hello,

I'm looking to upgrade my NT 4.0 MetaFrame 1.8 Master Browsers to Windows
2000.
It should be a fairly strait-foreword procedure, but I wanted to ask if
anyone
has a suggested method for doing this?

The servers need to stay as MetaFrame 1.8 servers for the time being. We
currently have DNS round robin configured between two buildings (i.e. one
master browser at each building). Half the request will fail while the
system
is being rebuild, though it should start working again once the new MB is
configured. The work will need to be performed during non-business hours.
License packs are currently installed on the MB and ICA gateways are
currently
setup between Master Browsers.

Tentative Procedure:
Remove published apps from Master Browser
Remove one mirrored HD in case issues arise
Set MB to "no preference" and a member server as "Always attempt to become
Master Browser" so another server becomes master browser
Break ICA gateway to/from MB that are rebuilding
Remove MB from Citrix Farm
Remove MB from NT Domain
Re-build out server as W2k w/ same address/computer name as before
Add server to NT Domain
Re-install MF 1.8 w/ SP3 and hotfixes
Re-configure Server Administration settings for "Always attempt to become
Master Browser"
Re-add license packs
Re-setup ICA gateways to/from MB

Questions:
1. If I am immediately rebuilding the server w/ MF 1.8 using the same IP
address/computer name, do I still have to break/re-create the ICA Gateways?

2. Am I missing anything in my logic?

Thanks,
