I think more important is the question: are you going to be using NT4, Windows 2000, or Windows 2003? There's quite a jump in performance (measured in concurrent users) for 2003. If you can swallow the licensing cost, go with 2003 if possible. ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Glenn Dona Sent: Friday, November 05, 2004 3:59 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Upgrade Recommendation Sorry. We are going to do a clean install. We are going to use new IBM Blade Servers. We only have 200 users right now but the potential growth is there if we can make this system perform much faster than the current 1.8 system. ________________________________ From: Landin, Mark [mailto:Mark.Landin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, November 05, 2004 4:05 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Upgrade Recommendation Are you really doing an upgrade, or are you doing a clean install? Will you be using the same servers you are using now, or did you get new ones? ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Glenn Dona Sent: Friday, November 05, 2004 2:27 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Upgrade Recommendation Hello, We are getting ready to upgrade our Meta frame 1.8 to Metaframe XPE with FR3. Should we skip this and go straight to Presentation Server 3.0? Thanks, Glenn J.C.
