the auto creation setup in the CMC works well but lacks the ability to =
set one as the default. I use Kix to create the mappings and set the =
default by group. Then I add users that need that printer to the group.

Mine run by location. All users and a particular location will get all =
the printers at that location, then some will need to default to one of =
them unless they have a local printer. that is handled with the client =
printer configuration utility in their session. I made some case =
statements in Kix to handle it all. So far it has been running that way =
for over a year and we have not had any issues with it.

Sometimes the copy count of printers created in the CMC will get messed =
up. There is hotfix due out a the end of this month that is supposed to =
fix it.

Subject: [THIN] Thinclient devices and printers

Hi All,

I am about to start rolling out thinclient devices to my endusers. I am
trying to figure out the best way to handle printing. I have nine print
servers/appliances on the network that handle all network printing. I =
have
imported them into the farm. What's the best way to point the =
thinclient
devices to them? Should I add mappings in the user's logon scripts, =
should
I autocreate based on username? what do you do? My farm is W2K SP2 XPe
FR2.
