Thanks Alan, If you would forward that script. Were new with this and the learning curve has been a long one. We only have a test group using this system right now. I would like to get all the got you out of the way before we go live. Thanks agin BOBT >>> Alan.Hutchinson@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 12/8/2004 10:33:50 AM >>> Bob, Not sure if this answers your question but you are right about user info being stored in HKLM (note that I'm going back to NT4 TSE, GSNW - no Novell client). The key is : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NWCWorkstation\Para meters\Option\<usersid> And there are two values under here that store tree and context information. I have written a KiX script that updates each server remotely (provided from a text file) with the correct tree and context. This was run everytime a new account was created. It was noticable that on the rare occasions that I installed the Novell client (in a test environment) this key was blown away. Now using Novell client and contextless login and the need for this has gone away. Can forward KiX script and wrapper if it's of any use. Sorry for the length of the question. Here is what's going on. We've spent a lot of time on this and are nothing seems to work. HKEY_USERS\USERIDNUMBER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explor er\Shell Folders Personal is the registry key that is not being filled in When a user logs onto a server (say CTX01) for the first time they have to fill out the context and tree info from the GSNW. That information is than stored and everytime that user logs onto CTX01, a roaming profile is created and they have access to their info (in particular..their documents). They double click on My Documents and their docuemnts folder opens right up. If that same user then logs onto another server (say CTX02) they are either prompted for the GSNW information again, or just logged directly onto the server. They still have access to IE, Groupwise (which is running over IP), Word, etc., but when they try and open up their documents, they are prompted for a username and password for the root directory that houses the user folders. Noone has access to all the user folders except admins so a users credentials will not work. If they fill in the GSNW info correctly than it will work but it is not reasonable to have users fill out this info 8x til they have hit all the servers in the farm. I have noticed that the registry setting above is not being filled out on servers that the user has not logged into. On the server that the GSNW info was set, this info was correct... set to \\Cuymet1\Data\Users\username. Now that this is all written out, it would seem that the GSNW information is being stored on the server's registry instead of being moved over to the tsprofiles folder for other server's to access. If we can figure out a way to solve this, I believe that the farm will be ready to be tested by a number of addtional users.
