Thanks Carl. It's hard to watch with Regmon because so much actually happens. Unfortunately the servers have been in production for a while and all users have a profile, so the default profile option is not going to resolve my immediate requirement. Cheers, Jeremy. -----Original Message----- From: Carl Stalhood [mailto:cstalhood@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, 20 February 2004 1:54 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Setting Windows Explorer Details View by the registry When you set the Details view as the default view, explorer does the following: 1. Sets the registry value HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams\Settings to a binary value. 2. Sets the registry value HKCU\Software\Microosft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams\Defaults\{F3 364BA0-65B9-11CE-A9BA-00AA004AE837} to a binary value. I have also seen it set {20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D} so you might have to do both. I think it depends on if you set the defaults using My Computer or Explorer. 3. Deletes the keys under HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags. Try watching it using Regmon after going to Tools > Folder Options > View > Apply to Other Folders. I find the easiest way to set this is to log on as a user, set the Details view, and copy the profile to Default User so all new users (or users with reset profiles) get the Details view. I know that you have to delete the following two keys... HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\BagMRU HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\Bags ...but I'm having trouble working the rest out.
