Dave, I think you need to find the cause of the hang-up. However if you can't, you can always try using LaunchIt to wrap around outlook. LaunchIt would start up outlook, and perform cleanup when the user is done. It runs in the user context which might help it clean up. This is a free utility you can download from my website at www.tmurgent.com. Again, I think it is better to locate the cause that paint over the bad spots. tim -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of DMelczer@xxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, September 22, 2003 11:57 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Session disconnects and rogue processes I have a problem that I can't seem to figure out... Environment: Windows 2000 TS, MetaFrame XP 1.0 FR1/SP1, Fat clients running 6.30 Users have been given a 2 hour idle timeout, at which time they are disconnected for 20 minutes. At the end of 20 minutes, their sessions should be reset. Consistently, I see user processes in task manager on the server that are related to session IDs that no longer appear in the TSADMIN utility or in the CMC...the processes appear to be running, and have open file handles. Specifically, Outlook XP keeps handles to PST files open. This causes problems because when the user logs in again (through Citrix, or on a desktop in the office) their PST files are listed as being in use... The really bad part is that for the life of me, I can't kill the rogue processes...I get access denied even as domain or local admin when trying to kill the process (even using 3rd party utilities such as those from sysinternals). Can anyone help me with ensuring that these sessions get reset if a user walks away from their computer and never logs off? Thanks in advance. -Dave Melczer dmelczer@xxxxxxxx <mailto:dmelczer@xxxxxxxx> ********************************************************************** Please be advised that this transmittal may be a confidential attorney-client communication or may otherwise be privileged or confidential.
