I have just finished my upgrade from XP FR3 to PS4 tomorrow. I did the exact same upgrade in my VMware test enviroment first and now I have upgraded the production farm as well. Enviroment: Windows 2000 SP4 Citrix XPa FR3/SP3 1 Dedicated datacollector (Access), and Ica Client Update Database 9 Application Servers publishing full desktops Step One: Installing the new lisence server. and imported the lisence file. As I were installing this on the datacollector server, I had a conflict between the webinterface of the license console, and the Citrix XML service, as both tried to use port 80. So I had to change the portnumber of the web interface of the license console to 81. Step Two: Upgrading the datacollector server. - Install WWW services in Add/Remove Program. - Installed all windows patches except the rollup package. - Installed KB824141. - Upgraded Citrix. - Installed the Citrix Hotfixes. - Deleted the three print drivers from XP universal driver. - Give the PowerUsers group at leat Read/Execute access to the root of the system drive. This to allow the Ctx_SmaUser to autocreate printers since I had stronger file security than it needed. - Create printer policy, as this is now configured as a policy, and not in the "Printer Management" part of CMC. Step Three: Upgrading the application servers. I have done this in production time, removing two for each day from the application. No problem running the XP servers against the PS4 datacollector. - Installed all windows patches except the rollup package. - Installed KB824141. - Upgraded Citrix. - Installed the Citrix Hotfixes. - Deleted the three print drivers from XP universal driver. - In the ICA Client, remove passtrough authentication. This makes the logonscript to be run synch and messing with the logon. - Give the PowerUsers group at leat Read/Execute access to the root of the system drive. This to allow the Ctx_SmaUser to autocreate printers since I had stronger file security than it needed. This worked for me, but only testing on your own setup will give you a safe upgrade path.
