Yes, I was reading the Advanced Consepts Guide last night for my
upcoming FR3 upgrade.
It states you NEED to upgrade the Access Datastore first.

Important When upgrading a farm that uses Microsoft Access as the data
store, be
sure to upgrade the host server first or installation will fail.

Does FR3 need to be installed on the server holding the Access Data
Store
first? and then continue upgrading the
rest of the servers in a farm.
