Hi there all I hope nobody minds if I answer my own question :) According to the FR3 Advanced Concepts guide p206, if 'Overwrite existing drivers" is enabled, the drivers are always replicated when IMA starts. I reconfigured the replicated printer drivers without this option enabled and it appears to have solved the problem. -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Chris Fraser Sent: December 20, 2003 3:07 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Key prevents app installation Hi there all, While performing some weekend maintenance/tuning I've observed a fairly strange behaviour. During the deployment of an application to the farm, the installation fails with the following error: "A previous setup program has made changes that require the system to be restarted. Restart your system, then rerun setup." After some sleuthing it was determined that everytime the server restarts, the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations key is populated with a list of files for every printer driver that is installed on the farm. The presence of this key is what causes the application installation to fail. If we remove the key, set the spooler to manual startup and then reboot, the application installation completes successfully. It looks like IMA printer replication is populating this key but I can find no documentation from Citrix or anywhere on the web describing why this is happening. In fact I can see no reason that the replication should need to take place at all since printer drivers across all servers in the farm are in sync and no new drivers have been added to trigger a replication. Environment is Windows 2000 sp3, MF XPe FR2. Has anyone else seen this? ===== Chris Fraser, ThinApse Corporation http://www.thinapse.com 604 638 8456 cfraser@xxxxxxxxxxxx ******************************************************** This Week's Sponsor - 99Point9.Com Emergent Online EOL Universal Printer 4.0 Has arrived! http://www.99point9.com/public/products/ ********************************************************* Useful Thin Client Computing Links are available at: http://thethin.net/links.cfm *********************************************************** For Archives, to Unsubscribe, Subscribe or set Digest or Vacation mode use the below link: http://thethin.net/citrixlist.cfm ******************************************************** This Week's Sponsor - 99Point9.Com Emergent Online EOL Universal Printer 4.0 Has arrived! http://www.99point9.com/public/products/ ********************************************************* Useful Thin Client Computing Links are available at: http://thethin.net/links.cfm *********************************************************** For Archives, to Unsubscribe, Subscribe or set Digest or Vacation mode use the below link: http://thethin.net/citrixlist.cfm
