have you tried using rsync? It works pretty well and has some compression
built in to it

Ok here is my issue. I have about 30-40 gig of data I want to do a copy of
everynight to a nas server. If I use a tape backup it is usually done by
morning. But if I use xcopy, it takes 2 days. Any idea on what I could use
to a copy of this data but do it fast enough to be done over night?
