There is a Microsoft scaling tool for Excahnge 2003, for what that's worth. I'll try and find the URL. I have seen OWA bury boxes before but couldn't find ANY tests out on the net that gave any per server numbers. My OWA server is also my Exchange 2003 Front End so it handles SMTP and IMAP and RPC over HTTP (about 20 users on that with more every day, replacing OWA). I average 1.5gigs of SMTP traffic alone to give an idea of other loads on the Front End Box. The front end box also runs Symantec Mail Security 4.0. The machine is a Power Edge 1750, dual 2.8ghz Xeons with 1 gig of RAM. I average 260 megs of RAM free with a 95% idle CPU load. Most of my CPU load is from Symantec scanning inbound/outbound mail using Transport scanning. I think this machine could easily take 1000 users, no problems. _____ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Ron Oglesby Sent: Wednesday, January 14, 2004 2:33 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] OT: OWA sizing Anyone out there using OWA on a large scale. I mean 500-1000 users or better. Looking for numbers of user per OWA server you are getting (concurrent) and type of hardware that applies too.
