Sounds like good lab material, to me.

I'll be trying that one out here. :p

Yeah I have done it but not on 2k3. I have KILLED the dir on 2k3 with
the
service stopped to get rid of the temp license "memory". So I assume
moving
it would work. But its an Assumption.....

Ron,

I've never tried the "stop services, copy LServer directory over" method
before. I notice you said "You could try..." so I wasn't sure if you'd
ever tested it.

Have you? Does it actually work?

Best way is to backup the database of copy it (LServer directory) to
another
server. You could try installing the license service on another server.
Authorize/activate the server, stop the service on both machines and
copy
the contents of the lserver directory from one machine to another, then
start the service on the new host. Of course you also have to point your
TS
servers to this server if you are overriding the normal lserver
discovery
process.

I'm getting our Windows 2003 terminal servers set up. The system that I
want to put our license server on is only going to be here another
couple of months since we lease it (we least all our servers). So, when
it comes time to put in the replacement system, how do I transer all the
licensing info from the old server to the new one?
