I watched the webcast. I think this is a pretty big (and good) shift in
focus for Citrix. A shift away from thinking that application
integration via nFuse was their future and towards thinking that access
to applications is their future. My interpretation is that they are now
looking to build much more upon CSG than nFuse. The new single sign-on
stuff is a logical extension of CSG. I think simplifying access to
access in the manner that they articulated is a larger opportunity for
Citrix than are portals, and one that plays much more naturally to their
strengths.=20
So, I think it was an announcement of a good strategic move for Citrix.
A move far more likely to drive much more rapid penetration of more
Citrix seats and servers than applications integration ever was going
to.
