Left off the important question, how do you enable local drive access
in the web client? Right now it's not enabled with a default web client
install and whatever policy settings I have enabled.
Local Drive access currently works with PNAgent.

yes you can and no, there is no threat of virus. remember that the local
client knows nothing about the servers HDD. it's more the other way
around.
