XP 1.0 for Microsoft Windows 2003, Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server 3.0 for
Microsoft Windows 2000, Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server 3.0 for Microsoft
Windows 2003

Symptom

When Microsoft Internet Explorer security updates 867801 (MS04-025) and 832894
(MS04-004) are installed on a client device, Server-to-Client Content
Redirection breaks for the URL that contains basic or NTLM authentication.
Therefore, the URL is opened on the server?s Web browser instead of on the
client?s.

Cause

This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:

? You installed the cumulative security update for Internet Explorer MS04-004
or MS04-025.

? You try to access a Web page that is secured by basic or NTLM authentication.

? The client uses an HTTP ping mechanism to check the URL. After installation
of the Microsoft patches, this ping mechanism doesn?t work.

Resolution

An update is available for Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x and 6.0 to resolve
this problem. Update rollup 871260 includes security update 867801 (MS04-025)
and all the Internet Explorer hotfixes that were created after security update
832894 (MS04-004).
