Products: Citrix MetaFrame XP 1.0 for Microsoft Windows 2000, Citrix
MetaFrame XP 1.0 for Microsoft Windows 2003, Citrix MetaFrame XP 1.0 for
Microsoft Windows 2000, Citrix MetaFrame XP 1.0 for Microsoft Windows 2003,

Symptom

The Client Network Service will not start. You may see the following errors
in Event Viewer:

Source: Service Control Manager
ID: 7023
Description: The Client Network service terminated with the following error:
Invalid access to memory location.

Source: Application Popup
ID: 26
Description: Application popup: cdmsvc.exe - Application Error : The
instruction at ?memory address? referenced memory at ?memory address.? The
memory could not be ?written.?

Click OK to terminate the program.

The exact memory address varies per machine.

Resolution

Check the server?s path statement. Verify that the Microsoft and Citrix
directories are in the beginning of the path statement:

1. Right-click My Computer.

2. From the Advanced tab, click the Environmental Variables button.

3. Under System Variables, highlight Path and click Edit.

4. Copy the path statement into a text editor like Notepad and save the file
to create a backup of the original path.

5. In the text file, enter several carriage returns and paste the path
statement again. This is the copy to be edited.

Windows will not read beyond 122 characters in the path statement.
Therefore, it is best to place Microsoft directories; for example,
%systemroot%\system32, at the very beginning of the path statement.
Immediately following the Microsoft directories enter the Citrix
directories. Move any other directories that come before Microsoft and
Citrix to the end of the path statement.

6. Highlight and copy the altered path statement.

7. In System Variables, highlight Path and delete everything under it.

8. Paste the edited Path statement in System Variables.

9. Restart the server.
