I think I found a part of the answer : Excerpt of "Microsoft Windows 2000 Terminal Services" whitepaper "Note: In determining the location of a License server, discoverability is the most critical factor. A domain, site, or workgroup hosting terminal servers must also host a license server. For most applications, it is suggested that each terminal server have at least two discoverable license servers to ensure high availability. The primary license server should be activated and have sufficient quantities of license tokens installed. The secondary license server should be activated, but should not have any license tokens installed. Using this model, the secondary license server will be able to issue temporary tokens to clients without license tokens and built-in tokens to clients running Windows 2000 Professional (or Windows XP Professional) if the the primary license server is unavailable. Once a terminal server has discovered a license server it will continue to use that as long as it is available. The terminal server will communicate with its default license server once every 2 hours to assure it is still present. If it cannot find the default license server, the terminal server will seek another license server. Terminal Services Licensing only runs on Windows 2000 servers and only manages license tokens for Windows 2000 Terminal Services. It does not manage or communicate with terminal servers running Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition or Windows .NET Server." -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Elio DE SANTIS Sent: mercredi 16 avril 2003 14:19 To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] How many DC for hosting Terminal Services Licensing ? Hello list, Windows 2000 domain native mode 2 DC 10 Metaframe FR2 I would like to provide fault-tolerence for terminal services licensing by configuring TWO (or more) DC with Terminal Services Licensing service running. Is there a kind of "replication" of licenses between the two servers or do I still have a single point of failure ? Not sure if I'm clear... thanks -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Greg Reese Sent: mercredi 16 avril 2003 14:11 To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: OT Windows 2000 Pop up messages when logging on are they in the admins group?
