[THIN] Re: How can we map local network drives (not local client drives) to citrix session.

My bad. I thought he was just wanting client network drives to show up in
Citrix without scripting.

He gave Z as an example, not that it was the only one he wanted.

I don't see how going from a PC to server with RDP and getting client
network drives mapped would be any different from going from thin client to
server 1 with ICA and then from server 1 to server 2 with RDP and getting
client network drives mapped from the ICA session on server 1. In fact I
just tested this and it worked the way I thought it would.

Neil stated that getting client network drives mapped is possible with
Citrix. If so, then that should take care of Mash's needs (provided he
really doesn't want to restrict which drives are mapped).

but that has nothing to do with what he is wanting to do which is my point.
Besides, the original post states that he wants the drives to appear in the
2nd session created to the application servers which RDC does NOT do. And
he wants to limit what drives are redirected.

In the latest RDP client go to Options -> Local Resources

Connect to a 2003 server (doesn't work on 2k - sorry).

Open My Computer and you will see all client drives, even network drives.

I can provide a screen shot if there are still any doubters. :)

What are you talking about? you can't map network drives without scripting
with the RDP client.

It would be nice if Citrix would get on the ball and include this in the ICA
client like MS did with the RDP client.

If you're determined not to use login or any other scripts to do this, then
I'm kinda failing to understand how you hope to automate it. You're initial
sessions do it by login scripts...

Other than that, you could try some funky method of pre-creating profiles,
with persistently mapped drives - but it's not exactly a flexible or elegant
method to rely on persistence from a profile (where mapped resources are
concerned).

Why so polarised against scripting it? How else do you propose to automate
it?
