Just a guess, but why don't you try a repair of FR2 first? Even though it's
working fine, there could be something broken with the FR2 install, which
is then causeing the FR3 upgrade to fail.

The problem is that it starts to rollback the installation of FR3 back to
FR2 after those errors, even if you choose to ignore them.

I have had those, I just skip it, and move on, it is the Citrix toolbar
button icons. never affected the server.

Subject: [THIN] Error 1406 when upgrading FR2 -> FR3
Hi All,

Getting the following errors when i try and install the SP3/FR3 for
Metaframe XPe Upgrade on an FR2 Farm running Win2k Adv Server SP4.

<Error Message>
Error 1406. Could not write value ButtonName to key
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-674454874-1265978818-2270622466-1126\Software\Citrix\Citrix
 Toolbar\0x00000221

System error . Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or
contact your support personnel
</Error Message>

Even when you click ignore, the installer will the proceed with a Rollback
to FR2.

When I logged in the registry, I could not find any sub registry key
"...\Citrix Toolbar\0x00000221" i only have "...\Citrix Toolbar\0x00000215"
.

I googled and have not been able to find anything related to Citrix and the
Citrix KB engine has not turned up anything either.

We also get the following errors proceeding the one above:

<Error Messages>
Error 1406. Could not write value ButtonPath to key
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-674454874-1265978818-2270622466-1126\Software\Citrix\Citrix
 Toolbar\0x00000221

Error 1406. Could not write value ButtonState to key
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-674454874-1265978818-2270622466-1126\Software\Citrix\Citrix
 Toolbar\0x00000221

Error 1406. Could not write value Version to key
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-674454874-1265978818-2270622466-1126\Software\Citrix\Citrix
 Toolbar\0x00000221

Error 1406. Could not write value ICA Administrator Toolbar to key
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-674454874-1265978818-2270622466-1126\Software\Citrix\Citrix
 Toolbar\0x00000221

</Error Messages>

Could anyone shed any light on this? As I previously mentioned, if you
click ignore on all these errors, it will then proceed to rollback the
install after the last of the error messages. In addition there appears to
be no such key in the registry.

Thx in advance
