Thanks for that Jeremy; I was already on the case; i'll post up tomorrow the install script once i've got it tested :) -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jeremy Saunders Sent: 06 August 2007 20:50 To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: EdgeSight 4.5 Thanks for the heads up on that one Andrew...Got a 4.5 install to do next week. To automate the the registry change use SetACL.exe, and to automate the DCOM change use DCOMperm.exe. I have an example here, as Conf Manager 4.0 had the same problems: http://www.jhouseconsulting.com/articles/conferencing_manager_4.0_deployment_script.html Cheers. Imo the installation instructions pretty much come from the developer straight to you, and sadly no developer is going to faff about getting the security settings locked down which is dull and tedious when he can be messing about having fun getting the alarms to go ‘ping’ in 14 different tones and add an asteroids easter egg to a hidden sub menu. <slaps head> and ... Systrack was another that I’ve used in the past – they originally wrote the RM component. Although it looked a little dated when I last installed it Systrack is a good solid product with a lot of reports which are very useful out of the box; black box recording is pretty neat . Good price point as well iirc .. Obviously worth adding to an eval list. Our internal standards for SQL 2005 is 64 bit and didn’t have a dev box capable of this. Does not seem a grown up product just yet and the security standards meant a few headaches. Why is it that vendors love you to use SA or admin rights? Believe it was 4.5 we deployed for eval. Interestingly enough I had a phone call from a vendor after this. Mentioned your name I believe....Wasn’t one of the ones you listed below.... Bear in mind that 4.5 is out now. Its pretty impressive stuff – but if I was doing an eval I’d also look at the likes at RTO’s PinPoint if you’re a small/medium sized organisation – or EG Enterprise Suite and Performance guard from primetech if you’re a medium/large. What do you think of it. Is it any good? Doing an Evaluation and not terrible impressed so far. Wondered what other people thought.
