"Just Wondering" M.E. Nicks There was nothing on the main viewer but streaking stars and nothing on the sensors but empty space. Cole had given them a set of coordinates but he hadn’ t told them where they were going. This unsettled M.E. She wasn’t willing to trust Cole again, especially since it wasn’t only her life on the line. She still carried the guilt over her relationship with Cole getting Alex hurt and nearly killed. That was a mistake she was unwilling to repeat, at least not with Cole. She knew she was risking a lot by placing her faith in Anita, but Anita is different then Cole. With Anita, what she is is what you get. She’s just putting her amazing energy into all the wrong places. With Cole, you never know wither he’s being up front or if he’s playing you for his own benefit. Anita will stab you to your face. Cole will romance you, sleep with you, promise you the moon and stars and then stab you in the back while you sleep. M.E. checked the progress of the helm from her command chair console. Where ever they were going they were going further into forgotten space. The Federation had given up on this sector of space along time ago. As far as M.E. knew there were no planets or any Federation built outposts out here. She didn’t even thing there were any independent outposts or stations out here either, but she was so long out of the loop she couldn’t be sure. It had been years since she’d left Starfleet and Section that there was only so far her Section knowledge could take her. The skills she’d have forever, but the facts were always changing. The deal had been to get the plans for the weapon to use to help them get Cole’s little girl and then to destroy the plans. What was eating at M.E. was, who’s to say that Cole won’t double cross them. Those plans could bring Cole a nice chuck of change on the black market. He’d turned on her and Alex once before and it nearly got them killed. That alone was going to keep Alex on Cole like no one’s business and with her new pet Klingon, M.E. was fairly sure her best friend was safe. “If only everything else could be handled so easily.”
