Currently, no, there's no way to customize bullets/numbering in The
Journal 7.
I will see if I can get that done this summer.
I enjoying hearing how The Journal fits into your workflow. Thank you
for the details!
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

What Sue said.
Also: a provision to customize paragraph numbering, especially outline
numbering. Maybe I'm wrong, but I couldn't find that anywhere. I need to
adjust the sequence of numbers and the spacing. The reason is this: I
flip between the Journal and Scrivener for my work (drafting opinions as
a Judge at the Bombay High Court). I find The Journal easier -- less to
have to learn, and I've found a way to use the notes and notebook
options to write in 'chunks' and then put it together. I can make
notes/snippets and stack them or make them as sub-notes (or sub-sub
notes) and reorder at will. That just works.
But in this work, legal style numbering is critical. I'd like to print
directly for drafts, but I have to copy paste the material to Word or
some such and then re do the para numbers and then print. If I could
avoid that, it would be ideal. I like TJ's 'distraction free'
environment; good enough for me. But the lack of customization for para
numbering considerably impacts workflow, especially in time-critical drafts.
Sorry if I missed an existing customization option -- I haven't been
able to find it.
Also, I use PhraseExpress and strongly recommend it as a (free)
alternative to MS Word's autocorrect functionality.

I really appreciate your dedication to The Journal. It just gets
better and better. I've intended for some time to thank you for fixing
the heading and subtitle font size when copying and pasting into the
journal. I have three more requests (if I haven't overlooked a way to
do them).
1. Add the option of using Grammarly
2. Have calendar items sync with all journal volumes
3. Have a corkboard like the Shrivener program

The Journal 7 Build #1007 is now available!
The Journal 7 Build #1007 is a bugfix and minor update release.
This is a free update for all registered users of The Journal 7.
See below for upgrading instructions.
Bugs Fixed
* In "Export Entries to Document...", if exporting the entire
journal, password-protected categories are being exported without
verifying the password.
* Sometimes seeing "Preparing for search" popup when rearranging
entries in the tree.
* Dragging and dropping entries to arrange them in a loose-leaf
category should set the sorting to "none".
* Sometimes getting "Index out of bounds" errors after selecting
text, when trying to apply certain formatting.
* When installing an update to a USB drive or cloud folder,
sometimes installing into a sub-folder of the intended folder
(e.g., "The Journal 7\The Journal 7").
* Batch Entry Import should make better use of database transactions.
* When doing a Batch Entry Import of a CSV file, entries on the
same date are ending up with the same first line display.
* In "Table Properties", Cell Padding (on the Table page) and Cell
Width and Cell Height (on Cell page) are displaying incorrect
pixel values.
New Features
* New Batch Entry Import option: "InfoSelect v8/v9"
* New Batch Entry Import option: "Jorte (diary) CSV file"
* Default Entry Templates now always load for all new calendar
entries, even entries on past and future dates.
* Updated Diaro import.
* Updated DISqlite3 library.
Upgrading from The Journal 7 (any previous build)
Click on the "File" menu, "Maintenance" sub-menu and choose
"Backup The Journal..." to create a backup *before* you install
the update.
Click on the "Help" menu and choose "Check for Update of The
Journal". Download the update, close The Journal, and install the
update over your current version. You can also download the update
directly from the Web page, as this build is now the default download.
NOTE: Please close The Journal before installing the update. The
Journal cannot be running when you install the update.
For instructions for upgrading from The Journal 6 or earlier
versions, see below.
What's New in The Journal 7?
More Power!
* Search anywhere! See lightning-fast search results in any
category no matter how many entries you have. Search results
update as you type. Plus, in-entry searching has been made even
better, making it easier to see search terms and navigate between
them.
* Search everything! The new, improved Search Entries shows your
search results as you type, and allows you to easily add or remove
entire categories from your search. Plus, you can now save your
searches.
* More writing power! Format your text with new, more powerful
styles, including many new options at the paragraph and character
levels. View two entries at once with split-screen editing. Shut
out the world and focus on your writing with the new
distraction-free, full-screen editing mode. Search-and-replace
within all entries of a category.
* Word clouds! See word clouds for your categories based on your
entry text or on the topics you have assigned to your entries.
* Improved printing, exporting, and importing!
* Improved topic support and reporting!
* Improved international character support!
* Improved image/photo support, including image rotation,
thumbnails, and doodling (directly in the entry or on other images)!
* Improved media file support, with playback using Windows Media
Player!
* More options for categories, including specifying the day the
week starts and sorting options for loose-leaf entries.
* New entry editor options like hot-linking images, a running word
count on the status bar, format painter, and improved text
highlighting.
* New Entry Report Wizard (on the Tools menu), with new and
improved reports!
Improved Security & Stability!
* Recover accidentally deleted entries!
* Streamlined backup, restore, and upgrading!
* Easily use The Journal with automatic backup/sync-ing software!
The Journal's new, single-file database configuration is faster
and uses less space on your hard drive or USB/Flash drive, and
makes it much easier to use The Journal with products like DropBox.
* Improved security! With salted passwords and a new layer of
encryption, The Journal 7 keeps your entries safer than ever.
More Convenience!
* More flexible user interface! Display your categories as a tree
or nested tabs. Color-code your categories. Sort your loose-leaf
entries by name, date created, or even last date updated. Fully
customize menus, toolbars, and even command hot-keys.
* New visual themes! The Journal 7 includes a new set of visual
themes and a more cohesive look-and-feel (but you can still use
the old skins, if you want).
* Synchronize multiple copies of The Journal! Have The Journal on
your laptop at work and your desktop at home? Keeping them in sync
is easier than ever. You can sync from another Journal Volume, a
backup file, or any of The Journal's export files.
* Synchronize The Journal with your mobile- and tablet-based
software! Import your entries and notes from such products as
Evernote, Penzu, Diaro, and more.
* Give your tired eyes a rest! Today's high-def displays
(especially newer tablet displays) come with tiny print that can
be very hard to read. The Journal 7 includes new, easier-to-read
toolbar icons, and lets you see what you're typing!
Upgrading from The Journal 6 (or any previous version)
NOTE: Do NOT uninstall the previous version! (At least, not until
you're satisfied with the upgrade. Then you can uninstall the
previous version.)
Download and install The Journal 7. If you have The Journal
installed in the default location, you will be prompted by The
Journal 7 about upgrading your TJ6 (or earlier) Journal Volumes.
You will need to close The Journal 6 while TJ7 upgrades your
Journal Volumes. After that, though, you can run both The Journal
7 and The Journal 6 without any issues.
People who have purchased any previous version of The Journal are
eligible for special upgrade pricing:
* If you purchased The Journal 6 between 1 October 2014 and now,
you are eligible for a FREE upgrade to The Journal 7. Send an
email to support@xxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:support@xxxxxxxxxxx> (do not
send your request to the user mailing list, thanks!) to request
your free Registration Keys for The Journal 7.
* If you have purchased any previous version of The Journal
(v1-v6), you can upgrade to The Journal 7 for only $19.95 ($25 off).
As always, if you have any questions about or suggestions for The
Journal, please don't hesitate to contact me:
