[TFL] Pharmacy Costs

Pharmacy costs are based on whether the prescription is classified as a
formulary generic (Tier 1), formulary brand name (Tier 2) or non-formulary (Tier
3) drug, and where you choose to have your prescription filled.  Below is an
overview of prescription costs:

Military Treatment Facility (MTF) Pharmacy
o $0 copayment for up to a 90-day supply of most medications.
o Not all medications are available at MTF pharmacies. Call first to check
availability.

 
TRICARE Pharmacy Home Delivery (http://www.express-scripts.com/TRICARE/)
o $3 for generic formulary medications
o $9 for brand-name formulary medications
o $22 for non-formulary medications
o May receive up to a 90-day supply of most medications

 
TRICARE Retail Network Pharmacy
o $3 for generic formulary medications
o $9 for brand-name formulary medications
o $22 for non-formulary medications
o May receive up to a 30-day supply of most medications

You'll  pay more to have prescriptions filled at non-network pharmacies and
costs vary depending on who you are and which health plan you are using. Active
duty service members pay nothing out of pocket for prescriptions at any of the

Get non-formulary medications at the formulary cost share!

Make sure your provider establishes medical necessity. Forms are available to
download from the Pharmacoeconomic Center (PEC) Website at

Enrolled in the US Family Health Plan?

Remember, you will fill prescriptions through your US Family Health Plan's
pharmacies, either onsite, network or mail-order, depending on what pharmacy
options are available with your plan.  You will not access military treatment
facility pharmacies or TRICARE's other pharmacy options. To learn about your
